Changes to Reporting for Non-Profits
1 Hr CPE - Accounting & Auditing

Cindy Bergvall - Bee Bergvall

In August of 2016, the Financial Accounting Standards Board released a new standard for nonprofits that will be effective for calendar year ends of 12/31/18 and fiscal year ends of 6/30/19.   This is the first major set of changes to nonprofit financial statement presentation standards since 1993.  FASB hopes the changes will improve the usefulness of nonprofit financial statements and provide better information for donors, grantmakers, creditors, and others who read them.

The new rules take effect in December 2017 and there are some steps you should be taking now to ensure you’re ready.

Cindy Bergvall, CPACindy, a Director at Bee, Bergvall & Co. and its affiliate, the Catalyst Center for Nonprofit Management (CCNM) has over 30 years of experience.  A frequently requested speaker, she has spoken to nonprofit audiences on Assessing Your Financial Health, Auditing Procedures, Development Issues for Nonprofits, Tax Issues for Nonprofits, Succession Planning, and Strategic Planning.  Groups she has presented for include the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO), the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), the North Penn Nonprofit Academy, and the firm’s Catalyst Center for Nonprofit Management.  She has also spoken nationally at the Charity Channel conference. Ms. Bergvall currently serves on the Board of CB Cares and is part of the adjunct faculty at Cairn University teaching in their Graduate Nonprofit Leadership program.
