Presidents Message

From the President

Welcome to our North Penn Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants.   As I look over the membership roster, I see a diverse group of professionals from all aspects of Accounting and Finance who live or work in the Philadelphia suburbs.  Our strength is our ability to work together and support one another, from the seasoned executive to the business student preparing to start their career.   Whether you are working on your CMA, looking for local CPE opportunities, looking to expand your network, or studying at a local university, I want to welcome you to the chapter.

This year’s board is working to find new innovative ways to support you as your local representatives of the Global IMA.  We have board members who have diligently served the chapter for many years and new board members who bring fresh ideas and energy to our team.   Together this group is working to build a great chapter experience to all.

The Board and I look forward to meeting you at our monthly dinner meetings where we have a great line-up of speakers on current topics.  In addition to the chapter meetings, we are going ‘on the road’, to have networking socials around the area.   Each one will be in another geographic area and on a different day.   These will be opportunities to catch up with members and to introduce the IMA accountants in business.   If you have not been able to attend a chapter meeting, we hope you can join us at   one of our outreach events.

We have 2 charters for student chapters.  Each has different needs and we are working to find unique ways to support these students.   They are our future.  I’ve spoken to business people who say that young professionals and students are not interested in getting involved in professional associations.   Maybe they just haven’t met the students that I’ve spoken with.  The students are excited about their chosen major and they want to meet and learn from those who have experience in the field.    I’ve learned that they can be mentors to me as much as they want to be mentored.

I am honored to serve as your President this year.  I encourage you to reach out to me and share your experiences and desires for our chapter.

Kathy Weaver, CMA
